Republican Senator Tim Scott introduced a bill to prevent schools from being able to promote children’s gender changes without parental consent. On Tuesday, the South Carolina Republican introduced the so-called Parents' Rights in Education and Child Care Act (PROTECT Kids Act) to protect the rights of parents by preventing schools from withholding information about students' gender to their parents.

"Schools exist to educate children, not to indoctrinate them. A quality education requires input from those who know children best: their parents," said Senator Scott. The bill applies to any elementary and high school receiving federal funds.

Unfortunately, radical and secretive gender politics have left parents out of the conversation and broken their trust. My bill will safeguard the rights of parents, improve the crucial relationship between parents and schools, and ensure that children can learn in an environment free of activist ideology.

The PROTECT Kids Act calls for restricting federal funding to any elementary or high school that allows students to change their pronouns, gender markers, or sex-based accommodations (including locker rooms and bathrooms) without parental consent. The bill is supported by Parents Defending Education Action and Independent Women's Voice.
