Three police officers suspended for beating a detainee

Three Arkansas police officers were suspended from duty for allegedly beating a man they had arrested. The incident occurred early Sunday morning outside a convenience store in Mulberry, near Arkansas' western border with Oklahoma. The beating can be seen in a video posted on social networks.

The images show the victim pinned down by one of the agents, while another one hits him on the head against the ground and the third one kicks him in the body. Two of the officers involved are Crawford County Sheriff's deputies, and the third is a Mulberry police officer.

Asa Hutchinson, the governor of the state, confirmed in a message on Twitter, the Arkansas State Police will investigate what happened.

Crawford Police Chief James Damante confirmed the suspension of the officers.

The victim is also an alleged perpetrator

The subject was identified as Randall Worcester, 27. Worcester is singled out for threatening a convenience store clerk and punching and shoving a sheriff's deputy in the back of the head after being confronted.

Worcester was transported to the hospital, and then discharged and sent to a county jail is charged with possession of an instrument of crime, second-degree assault, resisting arrest, refusal to submit, breaking and entering, criminal mischief, terroristic threats and second-degree assault, reported National Public Radio.
