CNN, MS NOW and Politico announce lawsuit against Trump for barring them from White House, president says ban was over 'fake news' that poses 'a threat to our national security'

CNN, MS NOW and Politico announced in a joint statement that they will sue the Trump administration for denying them access to the White House. In response, Donald Trump asserted that this is not an "assault on the free press," but rather on "FAKE NEWS," which "has grown like Cancer" and is "a threat to our National Security."

Trump announced on Friday that he would ban these media outlets from the White House as punishment for spreading "fake news."

"The government does not decide what the press reports or publishes"

"We notified the government that we are filing a lawsuit today [Monday] to protect our Furst Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes," the statement reads.

The media outlets maintain that the White House revoked their journalists' credentials "without notice or due process" because it "objected" to their coverage. "Left unchallenged, this threatens press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism, free from government interference," they stated.

In response, Trump posted on Truth Social, lashing out harshly against fake news, which he said "has grown like Cancer" and is "a threat to our National Security."
