The GOP fights back and maneuvers to remove Biden from the primary ballots in some of the states it governs

Several conservative politicians from Missouri, Ron DeSantis and the lieutenant governor of Texas point out that the massive entry of migrants during his term could be considered "treason" under the Constitution and prevent their participation.

Several Republican secretaries of state and legislators, including Florida's Governor and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, along with the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, have indicated their pursuit of ways or the introduction of bills so that Joe Biden cannot run in the Democratic primaries. This conservative response is in reaction to the Democratic Party's efforts to disqualify Donald Trump in areas where they hold power. The reason given by the Republicans is the entry of more than eight million illegal immigrants during their mandate, including dangerous individuals, and they point out that, according to the Treason Clause of Article III of the Constitution, the president could be disqualified by the "aid and comfort he has given our enemies."

Several conservative secretaries of state, ready to "step forward" against Biden

Following the movements of Democratic states to avoid Trump's presence in the Republican primaries, and especially after achieving it - pending appeals before state courts and the US Supreme Court itself - in Colorado and Maine, Missouri Secretary of State, Jay Ashcroft, and the state senator from this same territory Bill Eigle announced that they are taking steps to "ensure the new legal standard for Donald Trump applies equally to Joe Biden."

Ashcroft even warned that if the Supreme Court does not endorse the former president's participation in the elections, several conservative Secretaries of State will take a step forward to give the same treatment to the current leader of the Executive.

They accuse Biden of giving "aid and comfort" to the country's enemies

For his part, Eigle announced on January 6 that he will introduce legislation in the state Senate "that would disqualify Biden from the vote in Missouri." The senator denounced "absolute absurdity of Colorado's and Maine’s decisions to remove President Donald J. Trump from the ballot and warned that "if radical leftists continue to push lies and fairytales in an attempt to kick Trump off the ballot in their states, Republicans have no choice but to buck up and fight back — use the facts to remove Biden from the ballot before he destroys this country even further. Democrats only believe in democracy when it favors them - let’s expose their double standard hypocrisy. We must stand our ground to protect the security of our nation and the sovereignty of our people."

By the Democrats’ own standard, Joe Biden should be immediately disqualified and removed from the ballot for the ‘aid and comfort’ he has given our enemies. Our country is being invaded because Joe Biden has swung our southern border wide open. President Biden has allowed more than 8 million people to stroll across our border illegally, causing more harm to this country than any other president in American history.

DeSantis confirms that he is studying the possibility in Florida

Arguments similar to those that DeSantis had already pointed out in December and that he took up again last Friday during an electoral event. The Republican presidential candidate stressed that he does not agree with these initiatives, but acknowledged that he is studying the possibility of doing so in the state he governs. "This is just going to be a tit for tat and it's just not gonna end well. You could make a case — and I'm actually looking at this in Florida now — could we make a credible case [to block Biden from the ballot] because of the invasion of 8 million. And again, I don’t think that's the right way to do it." he said.

For Texas, Biden's immigration management is what has "disturbed" the State the most.

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick also suggested during an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox that Biden could be removed from the ballot for his handling of immigration:

Seeing what happened in Colorado tonight makes me think — except we believe in democracy in Texas — maybe we should take Joe Biden off the ballot in Texas for allowing 8 million people to cross the border since he’s been president, disrupting our state far more than anything anyone else has done in recent history.
