On Saturday afternoon, Donald Trump posted his latest ad for the Republican primaries on Truth Social: a video with images of the former president's life with dialogue from the movie “Air” in the background.

In the post, Trump also wrote his campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again!" and added a link to make donations for his candidacy.

The production company that made the film tweeted, hours later, that it had no prior knowledge that the candidate would use part of the movie for his campaign. It also clarified that it "do[es] not consent to and do[es] endorse or approve any footage or audio from Air being repurposed by the Trump campaign."

In addition, the company co-founded by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck expressed that it did not authorize Trump's team to use any material from the feature film that was protected by U.S. intellectual property and copyright law.

The controversial film chronicles the efforts of Nike executives to secure an endorsement deal with basketball player Michael Jordan.

The monologue used by the Republican candidate's team is one by Sonny Vaccaro, a company executive played by Damon. Affleck, meanwhile, played tycoon Phil Knight and directed the Amazon-produced film.
