Since DeSantis has became governor, half a million Republicans and 17,000 Democrats have registered in Florida

Christian Ziegler: "We're just obliterating the Democrats. I had to go back and redo the numbers because I just couldn't believe it."

Florida has been a swing state in recent decades. However, in light of the results of the last midterm elections, it may join the list of states that always, or almost always, go for the same party; in this case, the Republican party.

Christian Ziegler, vice chairman of the Republican Party in Florida, has just released news that hits on the same trend. Since Ron DeSantis, the protagonist of this political change, became governor, nearly one million Americans have registered as voters from other states. As he told Breitbart,

Out of a million, about half a million have registered as Republicans, and only 17,000 have registered as Democrats. So we're just obliterating the Democrats. I did not believe it. I had to go back and redo the numbers because I just couldn't believe it, but it ends up being true.

A strategy focused on local elections

So, given this situation, the GOP in the Sunshine State is going to focus its political strategy around local elections; primarily city commissions and school boards. Ziegler says about Ron DeSantis,

He understands there's a cultural war going on. He knows what the left's trying to do by taking over our schools and really influencing the most easily influenced demographic, which are children. They're shoving, you know, the CRT, 1619 stuff, the sexual stuff that they're putting in schools with the content, but then, also like, now we got this. There's gender therapy and ideology that they're pushing on children. And the governor recognizes that.
He [DeSantis] goes all in, whereas other leaders and other states are too scared or nervous to touch those issues because they're not traditional political issues. But he went all in on the cultural issues, and because of that, I can't tell you how many people walked into the polls, and as they were walking in, they're like, 'Hey, I'm here to vote for DeSantis because I want to get this stuff out of our schools. I gotta protect my kids.' And these are people that are typically never involved politically.

On the other hand, one of the most important issues related to the elections is the voting process. Christian Ziegler believes that the best system is same-day, in-person voting, with necessary exceptions. But Ziegler acknowledges that there is no way back to that system in the short term today, so the Republican Party will have to participate under the current rules of the electoral game.

We do have to go after these vote-by-mail ballots in early voting because otherwise, the Democrats are just going to run up the score on us. So we recognize all that. We aggressively go after it, and we're going to continue to do that.
