Rep. Greg Steube hospitalized after falling off of his roof
The Republican lawmaker sustained several injuries after suffering a reported 25-foot fall at his property in Sarasota, Fla.
Florida's 17th District Republican Rep. Greg Steube was rushed to a hospital Wednesday after falling from the roof of his Sarasota, Fla. home.
According to a statement made by the congressman's team via Twitter, Steube fell late Wednesday afternoon and suffered several injuries.
"Congressman Steube was involved in an accident on his property late this afternoon and has sustained several injuries. We will provide additional updates when possible. Please pray for the Congressman and his family," reads the tweet.
The 44-year-old lawmaker reportedly fell from a height of 25 feet while performing routine maintenance on his home and was found by an employee of Rep. Vernon Gale Buchanan, according to Florida Politics.
The Buchanan staffer encountered Steube while doing a part-time delivery job in the neighborhood where the Republican lawmaker lives.
Recovery
Former Sarasota County Commissioner Christian Ziegler tweeted an update saying that although the congressman is still at the hospital, "he is doing well."
"Our country, state & local community needs him to recover and get back to fighting for us in Congress ASAP," he added.
