The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced this Friday that an undocumented immigrant of Venezuelan origin, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chirinos, was arrested on Thursday near the White House after authorities found him inside a stolen vehicle containing various types of firearms, with the individual threatening to kill President Donald Trump and claiming that he had heard voices in his head ordering him to travel to the nation's capital to kill the Republican president.

According to information provided by DHS to Fox News, the incident took place in the afternoon, when Secret Service agents approached the suspect after noticing that he was acting "suspiciously inside his vehicle while it was parked on Constitution Avenue" in Washington, D.C. The agency noted that the agents determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen and that Chirinos admitted to them that he had several firearms inside. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found two handguns, an AR-15 rifle and several rounds of ammunition.

Secret Service Director Sean Curran noted that this incident reflects the growing danger posed by armed individuals approaching the White House complex and praised the agents' actions, noting that their training enabled them to bring under control a situation that could have ended in tragedy. "This is the latest example of how Secret Service personnel draw on their extensive training and experience to de-escalate a volatile situation that posed an imminent threat to those under our protection and to other Americans," Curran said in a statement.

According to DHS, Chirinos entered the United States illegally via Texas in March 2024 and was arrested by the Border Patrol shortly after crossing the border. According to Fox News, Chirinos was subsequently released within the country during the administration of former Democratic President Joe Biden.

The conservative network also reported that the suspect faces multiple charges, including carrying a rifle outside a residence or business, three counts of illegally transporting firearms, three counts of possessing unregistered firearms and three counts of possessing unregistered ammunition. Chirinos was also charged with possession of certain dangerous weapons, carrying an unlicensed handgun, unauthorized use of a vehicle, theft and receiving stolen property.
