The president Donald Trump announced on Friday that Susie Wiles is stepping down as White House Chief of Staff, a position that will be filled by the current Deputy Chief of Staff, Stephen Miller, who will assume the role starting next Monday.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump announced that Wiles will step down from her current role and join his political operations team.

The president thanked her for her leadership at the helm of the Cabinet and said she had done an outstanding job during her time in office.

"I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff," Trump wrote in his post.

The president also stated that Wiles had "done a great job," and noted that she will remain part of his political team, albeit in a new role.

For her part, Wiles wrote a message in which she stated that "serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime. I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First."

Miller, who until now served as deputy chief of staff, will officially take over as chief of staff next Monday.
