CPAC Dallas / Trump sets Republican agenda: immigration, crime and woke culture

The midterm elections should be "a referendum" on Joe Biden. This is Donald Trump's position at a time when Biden's popularity is at an all-time low. No other president has been so unpopular at this point since Harry Truman. According to Trump, if the Democrats maintain control of the Houses, the United States is in danger of becoming "Venezuela on steroids."

An agenda for 2024

Trump has set the agenda for the Republican Party between now and 2024. For example, he urged Republican members of Congress to make sure that not a single dollar goes to fund Joe Biden's "open door policy". Closing the southern border and fighting crime has to be a priority for the Grand Old Party. The former president also re-asserted his proposal to institute the death penalty for drug traffickers.

On education, he expressed his opinion that children should not be taught "any inappropriate racial, sexual or political material". And that if the officials of the Department of Education impose these contents, it should be closed down.

He dedicated a space to the woke culture, and said that men who have tranistioned into women, should not be permitted to compete with them. He went on to defend freedom of expression against the impositions of the new progressive morality.

He also rallied against Republican complacency. In a speech reminiscent of one given by Steve Bannon, his former White House strategist, Trump has declared, "We have to seize this opportunity to take on the radical left, the socialist lunatics and the fascists. And we have to hit them very, very hard. It has to be a crushing defeat. He adds, "We have to campaign aggressively, relentlessly and be boldly populist."

A popular candidate

A poll of CPAC attendees shows that conservatives' favorite candidate for 2024 is Donald Trump. The former president garners the support of 69%, 10 points more than in the February CPAC. The next candidate is Florida Governor Ron de Santis, at a sidereal distance, with 23%. The same poll shows a 99% approval rating for Trump among attendees.

It's not just in the CPAC "parish" that Ted Cruz mentioned. Trump is popular in the real political battleground, which is the ballot box.
