Nicholas Hoult will be Lex Luthor in 'Superman: Legacy'
According to an exclusive report by 'Deadline,' it was the film's writer and director, James Gunn, who chose the British actor to play the mythical villain.
The James Gunn-directed DC film, "Superman: Legacy," has found its Lex Luthor in Nicholas Hoult. According to an exclusive revealed by Deadline, after months of screen tests, the superhero company has chosen the British actor who gave life to the Beast in "X-Men: First Generation" to play the mythical villain.
The news has not yet been confirmed by either James Gunn or Warner Bros., the audiovisual company that owns DC Studios, but the entertainment magazine spoke to several sources who said that Hoult had been chosen to play Luthor.
The tests were underway, the company had already announced David Corenswet to play Clark Kent/Superman as well as the Emmy winner, Rachel Brosnahan, as the person in charge of playing Lois Lane, the Daily Planet journalist and partnerof the superhero. Their signings were announced during the actors' strike but Gunn revealed that the casting process for Lex Luthor would not be resumed until the performers' picket lines ended, which happened a few weeks ago.
However, he did give news about one of the company's most anticipated films, one of the last was the official release date, scheduled for July 11, 2025, news that was accompanied by the official logo of the feature film:

It is not the only signing that James Gunn and DC Studios have made in recent days. A week ago, the same entertainment media announced that the Venezuelan, María Gabriela de Faría, had achieved the role of the villain Angela Spica, alias, The Engineer. News that hours later she herself confirmed on her Instagram account:
Her powers, the outlet explained, come from the nanotechnology incorporated into her body. The villain, created by Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch, first appeared in the 1999 comic, The Authority vol.1 #1, and this will be one of the first times The Engineer appears on the big screen.
