The San Diego Comic-Con has just suffered a major loss. The well-known Hall H, where the most important panels of the audiovisual world take place, will have an empty spot this year, the one usually taken by Kevin Feige, director of Marvel Studios. That is, the superhero film company will not use this event to announce its next projects, as exclusively reported by The Wrap.

The reasons for this decision are unknown, but everything points to the sceenwriters' strike being behind Marvel's absence. Almost two months ago, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) decided to initiate a hiatus. Since then, writing rooms have remained empty and, as a result, there have been almost no new film or television projects of any kind. The situation could worsen if actors initiate a strike as well, as threatened by the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA).

Fans unhappy with the absence of Marvel Studios

The consequences were not long in coming, and the latest was the delay of many Walt Disney Studios films. The giant is the same one that owns the rights to Marvel Studios, and in fact virtually all of the company's films postponed their arrival to the big screen, reinforcing the theory that Marvel won't have a panel because it has no news to announce. Marvel might not be the only missing name at the convention. ComicBook reported that both Universal and HBO could make the same decision and not have panels as well. DC Studios will be taking advantage of the event, which will take place from July 20-23.
