'The Naked Gun': First trailer for sequel with Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. released
Two decades later the popular cop comedy saga returns to theaters with the children of the original stars taking over.

Just over two decades later, Frank Drebin will once again solve -or complicate- the toughest cases to the delight of his fans. This time it will be his son, Frank Drebin Jr., who will be in charge of enforcing the law, albeit in a style more typical of Liam Neeson, the actor who takes over from the late Leslie Nielsen.

The images offered so far of the new film, directed by Akiva Schaffer and produced by Seth Macfarlane, suggest that the absurd humor that made the saga so popular in theaters and on television will be maintained.
However, the trailer features a Drebin Junior much more skilled than his late father, incapacitating a number of heavily armed robbers disguised as a schoolgirl with just a sharpened lollipop. He is then seen tearfully addressing a photograph of Drebin Sr., along with other scions of deceased agents, such as that of Captain Ed Hocken (George Kennedy).
Despite the controversy the figure of OJ Simpson (Agent Nordberg) also appears in the film, with a joke by making a negative gesture to his son after focusing his photograph the camera.
Simpson passed away last year, as did Jim Abrahams, one of the co-creators of the original series, while Kennedy died in 2016 and Nielsen in 2010.
