Elon Musk denounces racial and identity discrimination at Disney and promises to cover the legal expenses of employees who sue

The billionaire shared a document about the standards that the entertainment giant uses for its personnel selection and promotion process.

Elon Musk announced his willingness to cover the legal expenses of Disney employees who have felt “discriminated against” due to the strict woke hiring criteria used by the entertainment giant.

This Tuesday, the billionaire investor shared a document on the standards that Walt Disney Co. uses during the personnel selection and promotion process. This information was first published in 2020 and shows that Disney requires its staff to meet at least three of five specific criteria focused on the forced inclusion of employees from “underrepresented groups.”

These criteria include parameters such as having 50% or more regular and recurring written characters coming from underrepresented groups, 50% or more regular and recurring actors from underrepresented groups, and “integration” of these groups into the general themes and narratives of a series.

Additionally, similar criteria are requested for lower-level crew and creative leadership, meaning that at least half of episode directors or producers and senior writing staff must come from so-called underrepresented groups.

Musk criticizes Disney’s hiring parameters

After sharing the document, Musk did not hesitate to express his disagreement, calling these policies “mandatory and institutionalized racism and sexism.” Likewise, the magnate is willing to financially support those X users who were victims of discrimination due to Disney’s woke practices.

“If you were discriminated against by Disney or its subsidiaries (ABC, ESPN, Marvel, etc), just reply to this post to receive legal support,” his post states.

Musk finances lawsuit against Disney

This announcement came shortly after it was revealed that Musk is funding a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm filed by former “The Mandalorian” star Gina Carano.

The actress, who was fired from the series in 2021 after making a series of social media posts in support of Republicans, maintains that her dismissal was unjustified and that she is being defamed due to her right-wing opinions. Carano is seeking $75,000 in damages and a court order reinstating her to the series.

“We’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination,” said Joe Benarroch, head of business operations at X.
