Dictator Nicolás Maduro sparks international backlash after stating that Jesus Christ was a “Palestinian boy” crucified by “the Spanish empire”

The statements came after the Venezuelan regime justified the Hamas' terrorist attacks.

During his program "Con Maduro + –," Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, made a grotesque historical error by stating that Jesus Christ was a “Palestinian boy” who ended up murdered at the hands of the “Spanish empire.”

Maduro, accused of drug trafficking in the United States and identified by international organizations as being the leader of a dictatorial regime that violates human rights systematically, made the statements after the Chavista regime itself justified the Hamas' terrorist attacks against Israel and also blamed the international community for them.

During his program, Maduro claimed to be a “direct Christian of Christ” and stated that Jesus Christ “was born in Bethlehem, Palestine” and became the “first anti-imperialist” in the world.

According to the Venezuelan dictator, Jesus Christ was born in a Jewish home, but, according to him, later "he rebelled against the domination of the Roman Empire. Jesus Christ was the first known anti-imperialist in modern history, from the last three millennia. The most important anti-imperialist in modern history, our Lord Jesus Christ."

Subsequently, Maduro made a serious historical error, seemingly confusing the Roman Empire with the Spanish, which the Chavista revolution also tends to criticize since the late Hugo Chávez.

"When he was crucified, unjustly condemned by the Spanish empire (...) and by the oligarchies that religiously governed the area, (...) our Lord Jesus Christ was nailed, crucified, murdered, tortured; he died as a Palestinian man. And he was resurrected to immortal life as a Palestinian spirit,” the socialist dictator mistakenly said, causing much ridicule and criticism against him.
