California: Anaheim Police arrest Orange County judge following wife's death

Jeff Ferguson, an incumbent in the county Superior Court, was taken into custody after a shooting at his home.

Jeffrey Ferguson, a California Superior Court judge in Orange County, was placed under arrest Thursday. According to Anaheim Police sources, the arrest followed a shooting at his home that resulted in the death of a woman.

According to several media reports, Anaheim Police responded to the 8500 block of East Canyon Vista Drive shortly after 8 p.m. local time. The reason for the police action was a tip-off for at least one gunshot from inside the home.

When they intervened, police officers reportedly found a dead woman in the house. It was Judge Ferguson's wife, according to the Los Angeles Times. The couple's son was reportedly present in the home during the events.

Authorities are awaiting a search and seizure warrant in order to continue the investigation. According to CBS, Judge Ferguson is reportedly being questioned.

Ferguson has been an Orange County Superior Court judge since 2015. His term ends in 2027. He previously served in the Orange County District Attorney's Office.
