Blinken in Jerusalem

Failure to eliminate the danger coming from Gaza would encourage Hezbollah to try the same thing from the north.

In a press conference held this Wednesday in Jerusalem, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken upped the pressure on Israel to change its strategy in Gaza.

Being a victim of “dehumanization,” as occurred on Oct. 7 when thousands of Hamas terrorists entered Israel to kill, kidnap, torture, rape and mutilate thousands of Israelis, does not justify responding with “dehumanization” of all Palestinians in Gaza, the secretary of state said.

Blinken's approach effectively equates Hamas' indiscriminate massacre with Israel's response, ignoring that producing the greatest number of civilian victims was the terrorists' main objective and that the death of thousands of civilians in the Israeli operation in Gaza is a necessary evil for the achievement of a non-negotiable and greater good.

If Israel is not allowed to put an end to Hamas due to the high death toll that it would require, it is very likely that the Islamist group will once again try to carry out a massacre that will bring Israel to its knees.

Israel cannot accept a different result in this war than the elimination of the terrorist regime that carried out the Oct. 7 attacks. Hamas' defense strategy is to embed its means of killing into the civilian fabric, precisely to force whoever wants to fight it to end the greatest number of innocent lives and encourage deceitful moral judgments like the one expressed by Blinken.

In addition to being unfair, interpretations like Blinken's about what we see in Gaza put Israel in an impossible situation, since they force it to accept the genocidal threat of armed groups deployed along its borders under Iran's calculated plan to advance its stated goal of wiping the Zionist entity off the map.

If Israel is not allowed to put an end to Hamas due to the high death toll that it would require, it is very likely that the Islamist group will once again try to carry out a massacre that will bring Israel to its knees.

Not eliminating the danger coming from Gaza would also encourage Hezbollah to try the same thing from the north with its more sophisticated arsenal and missiles, and it could be even worse knowing that the U.S. will not allow a decisive response from Israel to avoid the “dehumanization” of the Lebanese communities that tolerate, if not encourage, the antisemitic criminal enterprise of the Shiite guerrillas.
