Timothy Thibault displayed comments against Donald Trump on his Twitter account. In one of them, he retweeted this publication, according to Breitbart, in which the former president was described as "embittered, psychologically broken and deeply unhappy man". This fact could serve as a response to the accusations of "political bias" made against the former FBI agent involved in the Hunter Biden case.
This is not the only occasion on which Thubault showed his animosity toward Trump. Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley accuses him of being "politically biased" and numbered several instances of "political bias" that Thibault displayed on his social networks.
The Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is investigating Thibault for allegedly "violating" the Hatch Act, which restricts political activity by public employees.
In a statement, Tim Thibault's law firm, Morrison & Foerster, responded to the allegations against their client. In the brief, the defense appealed to the former agent's cooperation with justice and pointed out that his client expects "his exoneration".

The firm asserted that Thibault did not supervise the transaction and was not involved in the Hunter Biden case. He also denied that the former agent sought to close the investigation. Nevertheless, the agent left the FBI just days after it became known that he allegedly interfered in the investigation of the president's son.
Voluntary resignation
According to Morrison & Foerster's brief, Timothy Thibault left his position voluntarily. The defense clarified that the FBI did not fire their client, nor did they force him to leave, nor did they ask him to retire.
In addition, the consultancy assured that Thibault informed his supervisors of his departure "about a month ago," thus attempting to disassociate him from the Hunter Biden case.
