Zuckerberg criticizes Musk for not nailing down a date for the fight: "Elon isn't serious"

"I don’t want to keep hyping something that will never happen," the Meta CEO told his social media rival.

Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg used his new social network, Threads, to criticize how Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), has been eluding choosing a date for their fight since late June.

On Sunday, the famous CEO of Facebook posted that his social media rival does not seem to be as willing to fight him as he has claimed.

“We can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on,” Zuckerberg said, adding that he tried to nail down a date with his challenger, but Musk has stonewalled him with excuses.

“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” he said.

The Meta CEO mentioned that it is time to move on and that he prefers to keep his focus on competing with people who are serious about the sport. However, he did not rule out fighting Musk in the future but clarified that it would have to be the owner of X who contacts him to agree on an actual date to fight.

Before Zuckerberg’s post on Threads, Musk also uploaded a post related to the fight. The X owner shared a screenshot of a conversation he had with his rival, in which Zuckerberg told him that if he wanted a real MMA fight, Musk should train on his own and let him know when he had a date.

I don’t want to keep hyping something that will never happen,” Zuckerberg said in the message shown in the screenshot.

Musk challenged Zuckerberg

In late June, Elon Musk challenged Meta’s CEO to a fight after several X users commented about the possible launch of Threads. “I’m ready for a cage match if he is,” Musk wrote.

Mark Zuckerberg quickly responded to Elon Musk by accepting the challenge and asking him to send him the location. Shortly after that, the CEO of X mentioned that he already had a move to bring to the fight, which he called the 'walrus,' he explained that he just had to lie on top of his opponent and do nothing.

Rome as a place of combat

Last Friday, Musk said he spoke with Italy’s prime minister and culture minister agreeing on an “epic location.” He mentioned that there would be nothing modern and that everything shown on camera would be ancient Rome suggesting that it could be the Roman Colosseum.

The X CEO also reported that the fight would be shown live on both Meta and X platforms and that all proceeds would go to veterans and pediatric hospitals in Italy.
