The United States sends ships and warplanes to support Israel

The Secretary of Defense reported that additional resources will also be provided to the Israelis so they can defend themselves.

The United States has begun to mobilize ships and warplanes towards the coast of Israel, to provide military support after the attacks carried out this weekend by the terrorist group Hamas.

The Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, explained this Sunday that after a conversation between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, it was decided to direct an aircraft carrier strike group towards the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea to be closer to Israel.

The strike group includes the USS Gerald R. Ford, a guided missile cruiser, guided missile destroyers, thousands of men, and a variety of fighter aircraft. “In addition, the United States government will be rapidly providing the Israel Defense Forces with additional equipment and resources, including munitions,” Austin reported.

The Defense Secretary said the United States is ready to further strengthen its “deterrence posture” if necessary. “My team and I will continue to be in close contact with our Israeli counterparts to ensure they have what they need to protect their citizens and defend themselves against these heinous terrorist attacks,” he added.

Biden promised Israel the necessary help

After the Hamas attacks against Israel, Joe Biden spoke out and assured that the United States supports Israel in defending itself from the attacks that killed at least 600 people.

“Innocent people murdered, wounded, entire families taken hostage by Hamas just days after Israel marked the holiest of days of the Jewish calendar. It's unconscionable," said the president, highlighting that his government will maintain close contact with Netanyahu and will give him all the help needed so that Israel defends itself from its enemies.

“Let there be no mistake, the United States stands with the State of Israel,” he stated.
