Ted Cruz tries to stop Biden from exporting oil to China

The Republican senator proposed a law to make it impossible to export crude oil to U.S. adversary countries.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz has proposed legislation that would make it impossible for the United States to sell oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. The information was published by Breitbart, where they also assured that President Joe Biden would have taken the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to the "lowest level in decades".

Consequently, Cruz is trying to promote the Non-Emergency Crude Oil for Foreign Adversaries Act, which would prevent the United States from selling crude oil to totalitarian regimes, allowing an exception for national security reasons.

The bill calls for the Department of Energy to report the fate of oil exported from recent Strategic Petroleum Reserve auctions.

"At a time of skyrocketing inflation and record gasoline prices, and with SPR drained to its lowest level since 1986, it is reckless and inexplicable for President Biden to allow oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to be exported to China," said Cruz who further stated that "this practice represents a direct threat to U.S. national security, especially since the Chinese Communist Party is stockpiling oil for strategic use, and the Biden administration is aiding their effort."

The bill is also sponsored by Senators James Inhofe, Marsha Blackburn, Josh Hawley, Joni Ernst, James Lankford, John Kennedy and Roger Marshall, all members of the Republican Party.

Reuters reported a few days ago that Joe Biden's government has sold 5 million barrels of national strategic reserves to several countries, including China. Biden's decision to sell the reserves comes at a time when gasoline prices are at historic highs in the country. Some analysts believe the move has helped another of America's enemies.

Also, on his Twitter account Ted Cruz shared an interview with an international media outlet and has written today: "All Biden does is double down on policies that undermine our national security".
