Republican Rep. Cory Mills rescues 96 Americans from Israel

The Florida representative already participated in an evacuation mission following Biden's withdrawal from Afghanistan.

A Republican representative from Florida is "doing Joe Biden's job" in Israel, helping get hundreds of Americans in the Middle East out of danger who want to return home. Rep. Cory Mills, who, since the start of the latest clashes between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Hamas group, has helped bring 96 Americans home.

The Republican congressman chartered the first rescue flight this Saturday. His office has returned 96 people home, and he was in charge of locating 77 of them. On X (formerly Twitter), Mills posted some updates and photos of the rescues.

While the State Department announced that Americans boarding its ships from Haifa to travel to Cyprus will have to pay for their tickets, Mills assured on X that this will not be the case for the flights chartered by his office. "We’ve also secured a charter aircraft that can hold 218 passengers," Mills said. "It will not cost anything the Americans needing to get out of Israel."

It is not the first time that Mills has performed a humanitarian and patriotic act like this. In 2021, after the departure of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, with terrible management by the Biden administration, Mills also helped get Americans home from the country under the control of the Taliban.

"Having been a part of the first successful overland rescue mission in Afghanistan and seeing the failure of the State Department under the Biden admin, I knew I had to quickly mobilize and be on the ground to bring these stranded Americans home," explained the Republican congressman via X.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis followed Mills' example and chartered free flights for Americans stranded in Israel in the midst of this conflict. The exact number could not be revealed for the safety of those still in the area.

The State Department argues that Tel-Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport has limited flights and operability, which is why it considers transportation by sea safer. For those who want to leave Israel in this way, the State Department made an announcement Monday that it would be evacuating Americans by sea at the port of Haifa.

The Biden administration dispatched two full naval squadrons, led by the aircraft carriers USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The squadrons' ships will participate in the evacuation, while serving as a deterrent to any escalation and intervention by Hezbollah or Iran in the conflict.
