Quevedo, at 22, temporarily retires from music: "I am not a machine"

The Spanish artist promised fans that he has a surprise in store but he did not go into more details.

The Spanish musician Quevedo announced this Friday that he is pausing his whirlwind of a career until further notice. "I am not a machine," said Pedro Luis Domínguez Quevedo in an Instagram Live, according to 20minutos.

In 2023, Quevedo won the award for Best Urban Song at the Latin Grammys for his song Quédate with Bizarrap, in addition to being crowned the artist who sold the most albums in his country and one of the most listened to in Spanish throughout the world.

Despite acknowledging that he had had "an incredible year," he claimed that it was time to take "a vacation." He did not specify how long he will be away from music. He has also stepped away from social media. He hasn't posted on Instagram since last Friday.

"With this live show I wanted to say goodbye to you, thank you for what you have done for me," he told his fans. He told fans that he has a surprise in store but he did not go into more details.

The young man from Gran Canaria responded to speculation about his lyrics in Ahora Qué, from last year, where he says "2021 plant, 2022 collect, 2023 crown, 2024 disappear." Will he make a comeback in 2025?
