Both before and after terrorist attacks against Israel by Hamas began, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has used aggressive rhetoric against the Jewish state. In fact, she was expelled from the Foreign Affairs Committee for her comments on the matter. Using this history to her advantage is a Republican candidate who seeks to unseat Omar from her place in Congress and has now sent her rival a message from Israel.
Dalia al-Aqidi is a Muslim immigrant who decided in September to seek to unseat the current congresswoman representing Minnesota's fifth district since 2019. Al-Aqidi serves as a senior researcher at the Center for Security Policy and as a columnist for Arab News.
To clearly show the contrast with her opponent, she spoke from Israel on "Fox & Friends" and assured that Omar is the "number 1 antisemitic legislator in the United States."

"I tell you that Hamas is a terrorist group, and whoever supports these terrorists does not belong in the United States of America, the land of the free. When they call for a free Palestine and call 'from the river to the sea,' it is a call for genocide. "Black Lives Matter and all these far-left progressives have no idea what they're singing about," she continued.
As for the reason for her trip to Israel, the candidate responded that she did so to "show my support and solidarity with the Jewish people," adding that the people of Minneapolis share her sentiment. "We are not like her (Omar). We support the Jewish people and fight for the same thing," she added.
While there, she witnessed the destruction caused by the terrorist attacks that began on October 7. "I have seen the houses, the burned houses. You can smell it. It is a place of destruction. And whoever says that Hamas, that these people are freedom fighters, no, freedom fighters don't do that," she said.
In turn, she sent a message to those who describe Hamas as "freedom fighters." According to her, that is something very different. "Freedom fighters do not hunt children; they do not hurt women and old people from house to house and room to room. I have seen it. I am a witness to what happened in the kibbutz. That is why I am here to say no, that it is not fake news," said al-Aqidi, who hopes to oust Omar in November 2024.
