Javier Milei invites Pope Francis to visit Argentina

The Argentine president thanked the pope for his words after he won the Argentine presidential election in November.

Argentine President Javier Milei invited Pope Francis to visit Argentina on the dates he wants to schedule. Through a letter, the Office of the Argentine President sent his proposal to the Vatican and thanked the pope for the advice he gave him on the day he won the presidential election:

I appreciate your very significant phone call on Nov. 22 after my election as president. I value your wise advice and your wishes for courage and wisdom for me, so necessary to face the challenge of directing the destinies of our country and our fellow citizens. You know well that you do not need an invitation to come to Argentina. At the risk of saying the unnecessary, I invite you to visit our beloved homeland, according to the dates and places indicated to us, keeping in mind the general desire from our cities, provinces and towns to have your presence and transmit their filial affection.

Milei reiterated to Pope Francis the importance that his visit would have, that it would help "unite Argentines," at a time when "there are divisions and confrontations" and in which "our economy is at a critical moment and that urgent measures must be adopted to avoid a social catastrophe with painful consequences."
