Evan Ellingson, actor who played Lieutenant Horatio Caine's son in ‘CSI: Miami,’ dies

He was found dead in his home. He was 35 years old.

Evan Ellingson, the actor who played the son of Lieutenant Horatio Caine in “CSI: Miami” (2002-2012), has died at the age of 35. Authorities found him dead in his bedroom at the residence where he lived in Fontana, Calif., in Los Angeles County.

The cause of his death was not revealed. Ellingson had struggled drug addiction in the past, although, as his father, Michael, told TMZ, he had been feeling better for some time and overcoming his problems.

In addition to having played Horatio Caine's son in “CSI: Miami,” he played the character of Jesse Fitzgerald in “My Sister's Keeper” (2009), a film starring Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin and Alec Baldwin. He also appeared in the film “Letters from Iwo Jima” (2006), directed and produced by Clint Eastwood.

He was retired from the world of acting.
