Israelis overwhelmingly support Trump ahead of presidential election
According to a poll conducted by an Israeli media outlet, 66% prefer the Republican compared to 17% backing Kamala Harris.
A new poll conducted by a leading Israeli media outlet revealed that an overwhelming majority of citizens of Israel support Republican candidate Donald Trump ahead of the November election against Democrat Kamala Harris.
According to the poll, conducted by Israel's Channel 12, 66% of Israelis prefer Trump, compared with 17% who back Harris. The remaining 17% responded that they do not know who is the better candidate.
The media outlet added that while support for U.S. President Joe Biden increased among Israelis last year because he expressed strong support for Israel in the wake of the Oct. 7 massacre, support for the Biden-Harris administration appears to have waned as it has attempted to contain the Jewish state's response against terrorist groups in Gaza and Lebanon.
It should also be noted that during the Trump administration, the White House recognized the annexation of the Golan Heights to Israel, moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem and adopted a tougher stance on Iran.
In fact, the government of Benjamin Netanyahu inaugurated a community called Ramat Trump (Trump Heights) in 2019 in the Golan Heights region of northern Israel, in honor of the Republican candidate and then-U.S. president.
