The German prosecutor's office reported that law enforcement officers arrested four members of the Hamas terrorist group. Prosecutors explained that the subjects have been accused of planning attacks in Europe.

They also detailed that the detainees had been commissioned by Hamas to locate a land depot with weapons in Europe, which the organization had installed there, and that the weapons had to be taken to Berlin to be used in possible attacks on Jewish institutions in Europe.

The authorities explained that the Dutch citizen Nazih R. was arrested by the police in Rotterdam, while Abdelhamid Al A. and Ibrahim El-R., born in Lebanon, as well as Mohamed B, an Egyptian citizen, were arrested in the German capital.

"We must ensure that Jews do not fear for their safety"

The prosecutor's office indicated that the detainees have belonged to the terrorist organization for years. Meanwhile, Justice Minister Marco Buschman said they are working to guarantee the security of the Jewish community in Germany. He thanked law enforcement for its work in arresting the four Hamas members.

" We must do everything possible to ensure that the Jews of our country never again have to fear for their safety. And our security and law enforcement authorities are working hard on it," Buschman said on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The arrests announced by Germany coincide with three more reported by Denmark. The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, released a statement in which he confirmed the arrests and insisted on the need to continue working with European intelligence agencies to prevent Hamas attacks.

"In recent years, but especially since the murderous assault of October 7th, Hamas has striven to expand its operational capabilities around the world, especially in Europe, in order to realize its aspirations to attack Israeli, Jewish and Western targets at any price," Netanyahu wrote.

"We view with utmost importance the advancing of judicial proceedings against those involved. The Hamas terrorist organization has been working relentlessly and exhaustively to expand its lethal operations to Europe, and constitutes a threat to the security of these countries," the Israeli prime minister added.
