At least three dead and eight injured in an attack in Jerusalem
According to the Police, two Palestinian individuals opened fire on civilians at a bus stop, before being shot dead by two Israeli soldiers.
A gun attack by two Palestinian men has left at least three dead and eight wounded this Thursday in Jerusalem. The shooting took place on a street leading into the city and targeted civilians waiting at a bus stop.
As can be seen in images from security cameras in the area, a gray vehicle approaches a bus stop. Two individuals come out of it. It appears that one of them carries a handgun and the second a rifle.
They then open fire on a large group of civilians waiting crowded at the public transport stop. People start running away from the shooters. Some of them collapse to the ground. At one point, the terrorists return to the car and at that moment they are shot dead by armed Israelis.
According to the Police, the events took place on Weizman Street, around 7:40 am. local time. The men who killed the terrorists are two Israeli soldiers who were off duty at the time. They were joined by another civilian who also had a firearm.
According to the Times of Israel, which cites Shin Bet sources, the terrorists were part of Hamas and had previously been imprisoned for terrorist activities. The attackers were identified as brothers Murad Namr, 38, and Ibrahim Namr, 30, from the Sur Baher neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
According to the Shin Bet, both were imprisoned between 2010 and 2020 for planning terrorist attacks on the orders of Hamas. In Ibrahim's case, he was imprisoned for terrorist activity.
Among the victims are a 24-year-old young woman, a 74-year-old man and another woman over 60 years old. Emergency services transported eight injured people to the nearest health centers.
