Spaniard Iván Illarramendi and Chilean Loren Garcovich murdered by Hamas in the terrorist attack against Israel
The couple's whereabouts were unknown since the Oct. 7 massacre. Diplomatic sources revealed that they were executed on the day of the attack.
Iván Illarramendi Saizar of Spain and his wife, Loren Garcovich or Chile, were murdered on Oct. 7 during the Hamas terrorist raid against Israel. Since the day of the massacre, their whereabouts were unknown and it was suspected that they could have been kidnapped. However, diplomatic sources revealed this Wednesday that both died during the attacks.
The couple was burned alive in their home in a kibbutz near Gaza, an Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman told EFE.
Illarramendi, 46, is the second Spaniard to die following the Hamas terrorist attack. The first was Spanish-Israeli dual citizen Maya Villalobo Sinvany, 19 years old, who was at the Nahal Oz base near the Gaza border doing military service and. Her death was confirmed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Oct. 11.
Iván Illarramendi and Loren Garcovich, aged 46 and 47, lived in a kibbutz just over a mile from the Gaza Strip. After their disappearance, it was believed that the couple was being held captive by Hamas. However, the Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed this Wednesday to EFE that both Illarramendi and his wife died on Oct. 7 in the attack by the Palestinian terrorist group. The remains of Illarramendi and Garvcovich were identified on Tuesday at a morgue in Tel Aviv, a month after their deaths.
