Judge James Goss sentenced nurse Lucy Letby to life in prison for murdering at least seven babies in the U.K. The woman attempted to kill six other children at Countess of Chester Hospital.

According to the evidence presented in court, Letby deliberately injected babies with air, force-fed others milk, and poisoned two others with insulin. She received multiple life sentences, one for each offense, becoming the fourth woman in U.K. history to receive such a sentence, per BBC.

Judge Goss described the events as cruel and maintained that each of the murders was planned and carried out between June 2015 and June 2016. In addition, Goss maintained that the woman's crimes were truly horrific. "You acted in a way that was completely contrary to the normal human instincts of nurturing and caring for babies and in gross breach of the trust that all citizens place in those who work in the medical and caring professions," said the judge who gave the following sentence:

Lucy Letby, on each of the seven offenses of murder and the seven offenses of attempted murder, I sentence you to imprisonment for life.

Reuters said some of the children the woman attacked "were twins: in one case, she murdered both brothers, in another, she killed two out of three triplets and, in two cases, she murdered one twin, but failed in her attempts to kill the other."
