Wembanyama to miss end of NBA season with vein thrombosis

San Antonio Spurs reported that French prodigy Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the 2024-2025 NBA season due to a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
Wembanyama, 21, the Texans' top star, was diagnosed with the ailment after his participation in the NBA All-Star Game over the weekend.
"The team will provide updates as appropriate," they added in the statement posted on social media by the Spurs.

In 2024-2025, his second NBA season, Wemby has appeared in 46 games, averaging 24.3 points, 11 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
His last game this season was the Spurs' 116-113 loss to the Boston Celtics on Feb. 12, in which Wembanyama scored 17 points and 13 rebounds.
The French player, a silver medalist at the Paris-2024 Olympics, was named NBA Rookie of the Year last season.
Wemby, for many considered the "future of the NBA," participated for the first time in the All-Star Game last weekend.
