Guadalajara and Tigres reach round of 16 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup
Both Mexican teams secured identical 3-0 victories in the second leg of the first round, eliminating Cibao and Real Estelí.

(AFP) Mexico's Guadalajara and Tigres advanced to the Round of 16 in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup on Wednesday after identical 3-0 victories over the Dominican Republic's Cibao and Nicaragua's Real Estelí, respectively, in the second leg of the first round.
Chivas of Guadalajara took care of business at the Akron Stadium, dominating Cibao to win the elimination round with a 4-1 aggregate score.
The popular Mexican team didn't have an easy time against Cibao, having tied 1-1 in the first leg.
Fernando Beltrán opened the scoring for Chivas in the 22nd minute, bringing relief to the home fans.
Veteran Mexican striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, 36, extended Guadalajara's lead in the 55th minute, while Armando González sealed the victory in the 78th.

At the Universitario Stadium, Tigres eliminated Nicaragua's Tren del Norte from the tournament.
Ozziel Herrera put the Tigres ahead just two minutes in with a close-range strike from the edge of the six-yard box.
In the 14th minute, Diego Lainez doubled the lead with a precise low shot inside the box.
Juan Pablo Vigón sealed the win in the 85th minute, scoring a goal from inside the box to make it 3-0.
Tigres advanced with a 3-1 aggregate score after overcoming a 1-0 defeat in their visit to Estelí.
