Champions League: Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid dominate; Man City, in a slump
The nine games played on the penultimate matchday left us with 40 goals. The team coached by Pep Guardiola has now suffered its sixth consecutive defeat.
A day of many goals in the nine matches played on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League. Specifically, 40 goals were scored. Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen starred in the biggest victories, in addition to Barcelona's resounding home win and Manchester City's new stumble.
Barcelona added another three points, which provisionally puts them third in the standings. The team coached by Hansi Flick defeated Brest - who are performing well in this edition of Europe's top club competition- 3-0. A brace from Robert Lewandowski and Dani Olmo sealed the victory for the Spaniards.
The renewal of Pep Guardiola has had no positive effect so far. Because Manchester City stumbled again and it is now six consecutive matches - counting all the competitions they play - in which they have failed to win. This time their tormentor was Feyenoord at home in the Etihad Stadium, who fought back from 3-0 down, to tie the match in the last 15 minutes of play. The final score was 3-3 and Mexican Santiago Giménez became one of the heroes of the Dutch side.
The biggest victory was in the Czech Republic. Atlético de Madrid beat Sparta Praha (0-6) with Julián Álvarez playing his best game in the red and white jersey since he landed in the Spanish capital in the summer.
The most anticipated match took place in Germany. Bayern Munich needed just one goal to beat Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena (1-0). That same result was achieved by Inter Milan against RB Leipzig in Italy (1-0).
