The lucrative abortion business: Scandalous salaries of Planned Parenthood executives come to light
Despite the economic turmoil of the multinational abortion company, the president received close to $1 million, and the average income of the CEOs of its subsidiaries is over $350,000.

Abortion remains a lucrative business, at least for management. While Planned Parenthood grapples with a major financial crisis, the top executives have not only maintained salaries that reach close to $1 million a year, but have even seen them increase.
The difficulties for the company have increased with the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House, and everything indicates that the situation will get worse. However, these issues are not new nor can they be simplified by blaming them on the White House tenant. The Supreme Court ruling repealing Roe v. Wade in 2022 already triggered a wave of restrictions and grant cuts in Republican states that seriously hurt their bottom line.
However, one of its main challenges at the moment comes not from any battle won by pro-life groups or politicians, but from the market itself and Democratic legislation. The expansion of the abortion pill and the facilitation of its receipt even by mail have turned chemical abortion into the option most used by Americans, which is a tough financial setback for the abortion company.
Crisis seemingly not affecting Planned Parenthood management
All this led to the closure of numerous clinics and brutal cuts in most of the active ones, which have caused serious situations for patients. In addition to a lack of medical equipment, employee salaries are extremely low, and unqualified personnel are even being hired to perform specialized work, with the risk that this poses to the health of the people who come to these centers.
However, management has been exempted from these cuts, as they have maintained or even seen their salaries grow over the last few years, as reported in a study by STOPP International, by the American Life League, with data updated through January 2025 obtained through public information provided by the company.
Planned Parenthood president pocketed $909,014
Topping the list is Planned Parenthood President Alexis McGill Johnson, whose compensation (salary plus other forms of payment such as bonuses, non-taxable benefits, retirement plans and commissions) amounted to $904,014 in 2023. This figure represents a 32% increase over the $683,697 she pocketed in 2021. In other words, in the midst of the entity's crisis and cutbacks, McGill earned $220,317 more.
This is not an isolated incident. According to the report, the average compensation of Planned Parenthood management increased from $421,713 in 2021 to $502,896 in 2023. In addition, "the compensation of the 11 highest paid PPFA employees increased from $5.48 million in 2021 to $5,737,115 in 2023."
Scandalous salaries of the CEOs of Planned Parenthood's affiliates
However, the highest salaries, aside from McGill, correspond to the CEOs of several subsidiaries. Thus, the highest compensation among franchise heads went to Sue Dunlap, CEO of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, who eared $875,942 in fiscal year 2022-2023. She is followed by Stacy Cross, of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, who pocketed $725,671. Total compensation for all CEOs increased from $16.8 million in fiscal year 2020 to $19,748,999 in fiscal year 2023.
The study notes that the average executive pay at the multinational abortion company is three times the average CEO pay at a nonprofit organization. "The fact is that Planned Parenthood funnels its millions into political campaigns, abortion 'services,' and its own CEOs. In the U.S., the average salary for a nonprofit CEO is roughly $117,000 a year. Planned Parenthood more than triples that with an average annual CEO salary of $352,661. It is extremely clear that Planned Parenthood’s priority is money and the ability to funnel that money back into the pockets of its own CEOs."
The report concludes: "Planned Parenthood continues to grow tremendously wealthy, and taxpayers should be outraged at the nearly $700,000,000 given by our government to Planned Parenthood during this last fiscal year. Abortion remains Planned Parenthood’s main priority, and it admits to murdering at least 392,715 preborn children in the 2022–2023 fiscal year. As CEO salaries reach almost $1 million, the financial troubles claimed by Planned Parenthood seem hollow at best."
