Rocky star Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed, dies

Former NFL player and actor in the first four Rocky movies Carl Weathers died this Thursday. Weathers passed away in his sleep at the age of 76 at his home in Los Angeles, California.
In addition to playing the iconic character Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies, the actor from New Orleans, Louisiana, had other prominent roles in the movies Happy Gilmore and Predator, according to Variety. He was the voice of Combat Carl in Toy Story and appeared in The Mandalorian series as Greef Karga. He also appeared in several episodes of the sitcom Arrested Development.
"Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life," said his agent, Matt Luber, in a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter. "Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend."
