Two New York subway trains collided this Thursday, leaving 24 people injured and wreaking havoc on suburban transportation in the Big Apple. As reported by AFP, dozens of police and firefighters arrived to help evacuate hundreds of passengers, while travelers looked for alternative routes after three subway lines were blocked during rush hour.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities or particularly serious casualties, according to emergency services at the scene of the accident, located in the heart of the Upper West Side (Manhattan).

According to authorities, one of the trains had 300 passengers on board at the time of the accident. The other was out of service after being vandalized. Traffic officials say it will take some time before the service returns to normal operation.
