Colombia is left in shock after Liverpool player Luis Díaz's parents were kidnapped
The soccer player's mother was quickly rescued by the police and the army while the search for his father continues.
The parents of Colombian Liverpool player Luis Díaz were kidnapped in Barrancas (La Guajira), Colombia. Both were traveling in a van when they were stopped by a group of men on motorcycles who kidnapped them and drove off in their vehicle. Law enforcement managed to rescue the player's mother, who was found unharmed, and continues to search for his father.
Brilliant work from the police and army
The police deployed forces from the prosecutor's office and even the army. This allowed law enforcement to quickly rescue Diaz's mother, although the kidnappers managed to flee with his father on a motorcycle. Law enforcement forces quickly deployed additional officers, planes and helicopters, which continue to fly over the area where the criminals were last seen. General William Salamanca, director of the police, personally led Operation Candado, announcing that he would travel to the area to handle the investigations.
It is currently unknown which group is behind the kidnapping or if it was the work of common criminals. Police have launched additional investigations, according to the Director of Semana magazine, Vicky Dávila, who reported the news of the kidnapping online.
