Agents from the elite tactical unit BORTAC, part of the Border Patrol, have joined the other authorities carrying out an intense search for fugitive Robert R. Card, alleged author of the mass shooting that left at least 16 dead and 60 injured in the city of Lewiston, Maine.

The officers who are part of the elite squad have managed to solve several recent cases considered high profile. Among them: the search and discovery of the whereabouts of escaped prisoner Danelo Cavalcante, a Brazilian man sentenced to life in prison after murdering his ex-girlfriend in 2021. Likewise, they captured Francisco Oropesa, a mass shooter from Cleveland, Texas, and were also the ones who broke in and killed Salvador Ramos, murderer of 19 children and two teachers at a school in Uvalde, Texas.

Searches at the suspect's residences

On Thursday night, a group of officers was seen leaving a home associated with Card, and the officers could be heard speaking through a megaphone around the residence:

We would like to speak to you. Walk to the front of the truck with nothing in your hands. We want to do this safely for you and everyone else. ... Come out with your hands in the air and walk to the front of driveway. Again, you are under arrest. Please come out of the house now.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the Maine State Police revealed that law enforcement was conducting searches at some of the suspect's properties:
