The Operation Lone Star continues in its fight against border threats "created by the Biden Administration's refusal to secure the border." Efforts under the program created in March 2021 by Texas Governor Greg Abbott resulted in the seizure of hundreds of millions of doses of fentanyl through Aug. 4. "Texas law enforcement has seized over 422 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this border mission," the Texas governor's office said in a statement.

Fentanyl is not the only danger coming from the southern border. The Abbott administration shared the number of illegal immigrant apprehensions and arrests of criminals with a history of felony charges that have occurred in the 28 months of Operation Lone Star. "Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to over 401,900 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 32,400 criminal arrests, with more than 29,600 felony charges reported."

Among those criminals arrested are gang members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) criminal organization, as explained by the Texas governor:

Abbott's office also detailed the number of immigrants they moved to other parts of the country, such as to what are known as sanctuary cities:

Over 10,600 migrants to Washington, D.C., since April 2022.

Over 10,900 migrants to New York since August 2022.

Over 4,600 migrants to Chicago since August 2022.

Over 2,100 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022.

Over 440 migrants to Denver since May 18.

Over 240 migrants to Los Angeles since June 14.
