Authorities are searching for a crashed chartered helicopter in Alaska. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reported that rescue crews found wreckage matching the description in a lake.

The DNR’s lost contact on Thursday afternoon with the helicopter’s crew, which consisted of three members of its Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys and a pilot.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed that it was investigating the crash of a Bell 206L-4 helicopter in the country's northernmost city of Utqiaġvik.

Keith Holloway, spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board, announced that the search is being conducted in a large lake more than 50 miles from Utqiaġvik.

Holloway, whose statements were reported by ABC News, also revealed that he presumed the crash to be fatal.
