Georgia: police kill shooter who murdered four people
The man was identified as Andre Longmore, who shot and killed four people in Hampton, Ga. He died after a clash with police.
Authorities reported that the man suspected of killing four people in Georgia has died. The subject was identified as Andre Longmore. Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett detailed that the incident occurred after a chase. In addition, the sheriff's office explained that one police officer and the sheriff's deputy were injured.
"Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett confirms, the suspect accused of killing 4 people in the city of Hampton is dead after a Sunday afternoon manhunt. A sheriff's deputy, and a Clayton County police officer, were injured in the process. Stay tuned for more details," the sheriff's office wrote on Twitter.
Shooting in Georgia
Over the weekend, a shooting occurred in which at least four people, three men and one woman, were killed. The situation arose Saturday morning in a small town south of Atlanta. According to authorities, the shooting began around 10:45 a.m. in the Dogwood Lakes area of Hampton. "We're not releasing the name of the victims at this time to ensure that the family has time to be notified and to for them to grieve in private before it becomes public," explained local police Chief James Turner.
However, the media subsequently reported that the victims were identified as: Scott Leavitt, 67; his wife, Shirley Leavitt, 66; Steve Blizzard, 65; and Ronald Jeffers, 66.
Hampton Mayor Ann Tarpley spoke about the situation and called the moment somber and sad. "We ask that you lift up the families and the victims in your prayers, your thoughts, and that you give them the privacy that they may need to overcome this horrific tragedy," she said in a statement reported by CNN.
