Pope Francis says gender ideology endangers civilization

"The question of gender is diluting the differences and making the world the same (...) that is contrary to the human vocation," he said.

As progressive as Pope Francis has shown himself to be, he recently spoke out about the LGBTQ community in an interview and talked about how "dangerous" gender subjectivity is for society.

The Pontiff explained that he considers gender ideology as one of today's "most dangerous ideological colonizations...because it blurs differences and the value of men and women."

Francis pointed out that society must value the differences that exist among humanity and grow with them. He also took advantage of the interview to clarify that he believes that the momentum that gender ideology has taken worldwide comes from people with good intentions, but who do not know how to distinguish between respect for sexual preferences of what is "an anthropology of gender," which he considered to eliminate the richness of humanity both culturally and socially.

"The question of gender is diluting the differences and making the world the same, all dull, all alike, and that is contrary to the human vocation," he said.

Differentiating between crime and sin

In the past the Pope gave his opinion on homosexual practices and the church's view on them, highlighting that there are differences between a legal crime and a religious sin and that, although having homosexual relations is not a crime, it is considered a sin.

Despite the above, Pope Francis has assured that God loves everyone regardless of their preferences, so he encourages Catholics to welcome the LGBTQ community into the church.

In a 2023 interview he even went so far as to consider laws criminalizing same-sex sexual preferences "unjust."
