The countdown to Anthony Fauci's retirement begins. In what was billed as his last media appearance, the White House chief epidemiologist and medical advisor to Joe Biden again called on citizens to get vaccinated against covid. Fauci noted that, with the vaccine, "there’s a 14 times lower risk of dying compared to unvaccinated and at least a 3 times lower risk of testing positive."

Thus, Dr. Fauci wanted his last message to the public to be a plea for everyone to get vaccinated.

We know that it is effective. So, my message and my final message is that: Please, for your own safety, for that of your family, get your updated covid-19 shot as soon as you’re eligible to protect yourself, your family, and your community.

The White House announced Tuesday the launch of a $475 million campaign to urge citizens to get the booster dose of the covid-19 vaccine. Health officials noted that new data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that the recently licensed Omicron specific boosters work better against the new variants than the older vaccines.

Under this context, Fauci pointed to those who do not vaccinate as victims of an ideological confrontation, ignoring recent data that questions the reliability of the vaccines.

When I see people in this country, because of the divisiveness in our country, not getting vaccinated for reasons that have nothing to do with public health but have to do because of divisiveness and ideological differences, as a physician, it pains me because I don’t want to see anybody get infected, I don’t want to see anybody hospitalized, and I don’t want to see anybody die from covid.

Screams of Karine Jean-Pierre in response to questions on the origin of the coronavirus

During Fauci's appearance, there was a tense episode between journalists and Karine Jean-Pierre. The White House Press Secretary who censored any questions related to the origin of the covid.

After calling for vaccination for all, and mass testing after the Thanksgiving vacation, reporters wanted to ask Fauci about the Chinese origins of the coronavirus. However, Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre stood between Dr. Fauci and the media, preventing them from questioning him on the matter and shouting at journalists who tried to do so.
