New contradictions about the assault on Paul Pelosi
NBC reveals that a police officer's body camera shows that Pelosi opened the door for them.
There is a new twist in the findings regarding the home. An NBC investigation has revealed that Pelosi himself opened the door to the officers, as opposed to the previous version which noted that the police officers were forced to break in.
According to Bigad Shaban's investigative reporter, there are serious contradictions between documents from the Department of Justice and the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, the city where the events took place. In a Twitter thread, Shaban summarizes the main points of his investigation:
1. Who opened the door?
This is not a minor detail. Most of the theories about what really happened are based on this fact. Shaban notes that the "two major law enforcement agencies investigating the attack on Pelosi can't agree on who opened the door once San Francisco police arrived."
2. The body camera of the officer who was called to the home
San Francisco police officers often carry a camera with them to record firsthand everything that happens throughout their shifts. Images of the officer who was called to the Pelosi home have not been made public, but a Shaban source was able to access them.
The reporter stated that "a source familiar with the investigation, who personally watched the police body camera video, tells us that the SF DA's office got it right, adding that the video shows police knocking the door, then backing away. Door then opens from the inside and you can see Paul Pelosi opening it."
3. Why is the person who opened the door so important?
Shaban stresses that although there is no reason to believe that who opened the door is really important, it points out something crucial. It proves that there are contradicting theories about what happened and their possible motivation. It also shows how the lack of information from officials does not help to shed light on what really happened. Shabad mentioned that both agencies declined to comment.
4. Contradictory documents
The journalist ended the thread by showing an excerpt from the original court documents from both agencies, proving some of the contradictions:
DOJ federal indictment filed on 11/9/22. ("The two officers opened the door...").
SF prosecutor's motion for arrest filed on 11/1/22. ("Mr. Pelosi opened the door...").
