Republican Chuck Grassley, who is the oldest sitting senator, was hospitalized with an infection. The information was confirmed by his office through a brief press release.

"Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is receiving antibiotic infusions at an area hospital to treat an infection," his office said in a short statement posted on his official website.

Grassley's team also detailed that the senator is in good spirits and hopes to resume his duties soon. "He is in good spirits and will return to work as soon as possible following doctors’ orders," the office explained.

Similarly, National Public Radio (NPR) recalled that Grassley had hip surgery last year. "Briefly used a scooter to get around. However, the eight-term senator, who was long known for his daily early morning runs, has appeared otherwise healthy in the halls of Congress even as he became the Senate's only nonagenarian in September."

Chuck Grassley became the oldest senator (90 years old) after the death of Democratic Representative Dianne Feinstein, who was 90 years old when she died last year.
