Former President Donald Trump presented his closing arguments in the tax fraud trial in New York, steadfastly insisting on his innocence and calling the case an attempt to interfere in the upcoming presidential election.

This Thursday morning, the final arguments of the trial against the former president began, and although Judge Arthur Engoron tried to prevent Trump from delivering his own final statement, he decided to make a statement anyway.

Trump started his remarks by defending his financial statements and ensuring that New York Attorney General Letitia James, has something against him. “I did nothing wrong, they should pay me for what I’ve been put through (…) What happened here, sir, is a fraud on me,” said the former president. He insisted that his financial statements were “perfect” and that the bank loans were repaid.

During his statement, the former president addressed the judge and told him that he has his own agenda and that he understands it. Engoron ordered Trump's defender to "control" his client, but the former president continued to speak and insist that the trial is actually the case against him is a form of election interference.”

Shortly after his speech in court, Trump left the courtroom and organized a press conference at his property at 40 Wall St. in Manhattan. During the conference, he called the attorney general a "political hack."

Trump expressed uncertainty about the outcome of the case but claimed to have proven his innocence and stated that there are no facts or evidence against him. "We've proven this case so conclusively (...) They don't have any facts. They don't have any evidence against us," Trump said.

During the conference, the former president pointed out that all the legal problems he currently has are created by “crooked Joe Biden” and the Democrats. “This should never have happened (…) This is their new form of cheating,” he insisted.
