Florida Senator Rick Scott spoke exclusively with Voz Media about the serious immigration crisis plaguing the nation. The former governor of Florida isn’t pleased with the Biden administration’s immigration policies and stated that Joe Biden "does not care about Americans" since he has "completely opened the borders" and has allowed the entry of "all drugs" and of "criminals and terrorists”:

We're an immigration country. I'm from an immigration state where we like legal immigration, but illegal immigration is wrong. We don't want drugs to come across our border. We don't want criminals coming across our border. We don't want terrorists to come across our border. We want people that want to live the American dream to come across the border in a legal manner.

Scott said that the president "has lied about border security." He said we need to "enforce immigration laws." He added that in order for immigrants to "live the American dream" they have to enter the country legally.

We need to enforce our immigration laws. We need to have a secure border. Our asylum laws need to be enforced. (...) Biden has lied about the border being secured and 70,000 Americans are dying of fentanyl overdose every year. We've got crime coming across our border. It's terrible.

Debt ceiling, crisis within the GOP and 2024 elections

Senator Scott also spoke about current issues. When asked about the resolution approved by the House of Representatives to avoid a government shutdown, he showed his support for the measure and stated that "a balanced budget must be approved." Furthermore, he pointed out the country’s excessive spending and said, "the government is not living within its means.”

Regarding the crisis over leadership in the House of Representatives, the senator claimed that the GOP needs to listen to "each other" and decide how it wants "the country to be governed." When asked about the upcoming 2024 presidential elections, the senator said that "many people are fed up with the Biden administration's persecution of Republicans." He also said that Americans are concerned that "the Department of Justice has basically become a political arm of Joe Biden":

Many people are fed up with the Biden administration's persecution against Republicans (...) The Department of Justice has become basically a political arm of Joe Biden and that has to change. This is what you read about third-world countries.
