Several New York GOP legislators present a motion to expel George Santos from the House

New York Rep. George Santos can't catch a break. Just 24 hours after he was accused of ten new federal charges, the Republican is now facing a new setback: several legislators from the New York Republican Party decided to introduce a resolution to expel the congressman from the House of Representatives.

The resolution was introduced by New York Republican Anthony D'Esposito. He announced on his X account (formerly Twitter) that he would present the motion this Wednesday with the intention of revoking Santos from his seat which he has held since January 3 of this year:

D'Esposito is not the only one in favor of expelling Santos from the House of Representatives. He has the support of other New York Republican representatives such as Nick LaLota, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, Nick Langworthy and Brandon Williams. Some of them shared D'Esposito's post with the news. Others reported that they will release a statement later this afternoon.

NBC reported that the resolution needs to have the support of two-thirds of the House of Representatives in order to expel Santos from his seat. Santos told the network: "If they want to be judge, jury and arbitrator of the whole God damn thing let them do it."
