The second Republican debate was the least watched since 2015

The second Republican Party primary debate, held this Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., was the least watched in the last eight years. According to Nielsen Media Research, around 9.3 million people tuned in to see the debate live.
The number of spectators was much lower than the first, which took place on Aug. 24. It was seen by some 12.8 million Americans. The favorite to earn the nomination, Donald Trump, was not present at either.
In these last eight years, 14 Republican debates have been held. The most watched was on Aug. 6, 2015, which obtained around 24 million viewers. It was the first in which Trump participated before going on to win the presidential election that took him to the White House. The debate from Sept. 16, 2015 (23 million) and Dec. 15, 2015, (18 million) were the next most watched.
Former President Trump was not present in three of the five least watched debates since 2015.
